GPS and Forensic Digital Photography
an advanced breakthrough

Camera manufacturers have been recently marketing integrated GPS capabilities into their digital cameras, which encodes the data into the information file of digital photographs (called EXIF).  Prior to this a small GPS device was marketed that only collected the data which could then be viewed by the user via special software.  There are three bad sides to this - proprietary software and devices, the GPS units (integrated and external) are not as robust as a standard GPS (i.e. Garmin or Magellan), and elevation is not usually tracked - only date, time, latitude and longitude.

Our agency strives to be ahead of the technology curve (we had email and mobile Internet before law enforcement did).  We have made a significant breakthrough and now have the capability to take digital photos and simultaneously track GPS data, which is then saved and embedded into the EXIF files of the digital images; no proprietary software or methods.  We also take this same information and create an information file for Google Earth.  This file references the digital images and places the information and coordinates directly into Google Earth!  This is all part of the standard forensic photography service we offer.  As long as it is outdoors (if indoors we will collect outdoor data for reference) and weather permitting the tracking of the GPS satellites - you will have a very powerful demonstrative component for your case.

This data will also be displayed directly on the photograph for easy reference.  This is not available from any camera or GPS manufacturer.
